Passwords!!!!

As technology and the world progresses, so do cybercriminals and their likes. The techniques and methods at their disposable are increasing by the day. It is for this reason we as the common user are in need of and are to be aware of the methods to stay safe online. Such methods include, changing your passwords regularly. Changing your password can be a tedious and seemingly menial task but i assure you, just the act of changing passwords alone can have a significant impact on staying safe and protected online. Experts recommend changing your passwords every 3-5 months but that interval can be shortened however you’d like for further security.

But why change passwords and why not?

Well, changing passwords is the simplest and easiest precaution to take when compared to all the others methods out there. It reduces the risk of having your accounts exposed to cybercriminals for an extended period of time. Lets say you have a password

and let’s say the cybercriminal is aware of the vulnerabilities in your account and is attempting to brute force his way into your account. Now, most account sign in and authorization sites have countermeasures to protect against brute force attacks into a user’s accounts in that they limit the amount of false logins in a certain period of time. But what if you don’t change your password for an extended period of time? The criminal has all the time in the world to go through every possible combination of random alphabets and numbers to get access to the user’s account eventually. Of course, this takes time. This is exactly why a password change regularly can help prevent and safeguard against such methods. By changing passwords, you are forcing the hacker to reset his progress and try again from the ground up.

Of course there are a lot more applications and reasons why changing passwords can only be beneficial to the user. This is why if you truly treasure your data and privacy, change passwords regularly!
